Yarn Bases

SOCK/FINGERING WEIGHT BASES:
ATHENA: These are LUXURIOUS! 70% superwash merino, 20% yak, and 10% nylon, +/- 437 yards, 100g skein, 3 ply. The yak in these skeins is dark and even at 20%, they make the natural/undyed skeins gray. That makes dyeing these a unique challenge so colorways on this base will not look the same on other bases who are naturally a white/cream color. I like this base for sweaters, shawls, cowls, cardigans, etc. They are "smooth like buttah!"

LILITH: This yarn base is 90% EXTRA FINE superwash merino (19.5 micron count) and 10% recycled nylon. They are soft and have beautiful, snuggly drape. You'll love this base for sweaters, socks, shawls, etc. +/- 437 yards per skein

DK WEIGHT BASE(S):
LUCINDA: This yarn base is 90% EXTRA FINE superwash merino (19.5 micron count) and 10% recycled nylon. They are soft and have beautiful, snuggly drape. You'll love this base for sweaters, socks, shawls, etc. +/- 246 yards per skein

ANNABETH:  These are LUXURIOUS! 85% fine superwash merino, 15% mulberry silk, +/-246 yards, 100g, 2 ply. These skeins have visible plys, giving them a unique texture. The silk gives the skeins a beautiful shine! So lovely! I like this base for garmets that are worn next to your skin; cowls, scarfs, sweaters, etc.

ARAN/WORSTED WEIGHT BASE:
MAXINE: This base is 100% FINE superwash merino (21 micron count). They feel silky smooth. You'll love this base for sweaters, ponchos, beanies, etc. +/- 219 yards per skein.

BULKY WEIGHT BASE:
URSULA: 100% FINE superwash merino, +/-109 yards, 100g, 2-ply. This yarn is so plump and springy - it's like a cloud. Perfect for any bulky project.

LIMITED EDITIONS: This category is for discontinued bases, and new bases I like to try just for fun. Chances are that when they're gone, they are gone. But everyone needs to try new things every once in awhile, so here they are.

NOTE: Most tap water has a higher than desirable (for hand-dyed wool)  pH level. You can neutralize this by simply adding 2 tablespoons, per gallon of water, of white vinegar to your wash water. That will neutralize the pH levels and help maintain the vibrant colors. In addition, I suggest always washing finished items by hand with a gentle wool wash, lay flat and shape to dry.
